Schools for Montgomerie Park

Further to previous messages and posts I would like to clarify the following:
The school for this area falls into the catchment zone for Annick Primary. Following a recent discussion with the Head Teacher for Annick primary School this has been confirmed.
With regards to the school bus situation this issue is ongoing and is being looked at, however it is worth noting that not all children are not entitled to a bus pass and have to go down the route of applying annually for a privileged pass and that parents should check with North Ayrshire Council School transport department as some houses are entitled to a bus pass for this school bus route.
With regards to previous queries regarding Secondary School catchment areas again following discussion with Mr Brown i can confirm that pupils who reside in this area are zoned for Irvine Royal Academy (this is regardless of which primary school children attend). Pupils will not automatically obtain a place to Greenwood Academy should they attend primary level education at Lawthorn primary for example, as entry to secondary education is dependant on where a child stays and no consideration is taken into account of what primary school is attended even if it is a primary school zoned for a preferred secondary school. Therefore a placing request will still have to be completed.

Can i also please clarify that Annick Primary School does not have its own nursery (although it does work closely with Stanecastle Nursery) and should not be confused with Annick Nursery which is based in Irvine Town.

With this in mind parents should consider all options and if in doubt contact Mr Brown at Annick primary to discuss any concerns and have a look at what the school can offer pupils. I have always found him to be very helpful and the school has an excellent track record.

With regards to placing requests it is also worth noting that to date all placing requests have been granted by the local authority both in and out of the school.

Kerr it may also be worth contacting the school again as you noted on a previous message that you had ‘been knocked back’ from Annick primary school. Did you mean the nursery as Annick does not have a nursery school and they would certainly never refuse a child entry to primary education. it may be best to clarify this.

Hope this clears up any points that were previously unclear
